Mexico City Aims for Eco-Friendly Public Transport

The Head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, has expressed her administration's goal of ensuring that the capital has a non-polluting public transportation system, focusing on electromobility. She highlighted the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to achieve this objective. Brugada mentioned, "We are building, day by day, the era of electromobility in Mexico City."

On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the Metrobús operation in the capital, the Head of Government emphasized that this mode of transport has radically transformed mobility in the metropolis. She underlined that 80 percent of the city's inhabitants use public transport, making it crucial to reinforce, renew, and modernize this means of mobility.

Clara Brugada praised the momentum given to the Integrated Mobility System during the administrations of the Fourth Transformation, recognizing the work of Claudia Sheinbaum and Martí Batres in this regard. The governor also referred to an award granted to the city's public transport system for its focus on sustainability, mentioning Ecobici, Trolebús, Cablebús, and Metrobús.

The Head of Government emphasized the need to make electromobility a state policy to guarantee the sustainability of public transport in Mexico City in the long term. She also mentioned that her administration will work towards achieving total connectivity with the State of Mexico in a safe and effective manner. New electric buses will be implemented on lines 2, 5, and 6 of the city's public transport.
